In partnership with Crédac – Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry-sur-Seine. As part of La Métropolitaine and echoing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Julia Borderie is continuing ‘Tripple Dribble’, a multiform plastic work combining art and sport.
Since 2018, the artist has been collaborating with players from the Union Sportive Basket d’Ivry et de Vitry. Together, and in collaboration with Simon Zaborski, she has come up with sculptures designed to constraint and reevaluate the players codes.
In partnership with Crédac art center which produced the third version of the project, MAC VAL museum is presenting an exhibition of this new series of sculptures, accompanied by a scripted film with Eloïse Le Gallo, Simon Zaborski and the players, showing how these sculptures, at first experienced as constraints, are ultimately diverted and reappropriated to develop new game strategies.
‘1 point scored 1 sculpture placed on the basketball court.’ This is the rule of the ‘Tripple Dribble’ project that Julia Borderie has been exploring since 2015 in collaboration with male and female basketball stars. The project began with a meeting with the team from the Université du Québec à Montréal. For six months, the players and the artist explored the possible forms of communication between basketball and visual art. The game is modified, disrupted, destabilised and constrained. In 2018, Julia Borderie is locating her research in the Val de Marne region, in particular in Ivry and Vitry, where she is working with male and female basketball players from the École de la rue association and the Union Sportive d’Ivry. Based on this rule, the sculptures she creates with artist Cécile Bouffard are designed to reflect the shooting zone or the identity of each player.
For her exhibition at the Crédac (May to July 2024), then at the MAC VAL (July to September 2024), produced in collaboration with the artist Simon Zaborski, Julia Borderie is proposing a new section of the project structured around several acts, both in situ and off-site.

Synopsis
synopsis – On the form, i wrote a temporary synopsis, as i don’t have anymore access to the editing form, Is it possible tfor you to replace it by this one ? :
1 point scored 1 sculpture placed on the basketball court. This is the basis of Tripple Dribble, a mixed gender basketball game modified to seek new ways of collective creation disrupting traditional models of authorship, gameplay and spatial relations.
Employing a new rule as it’s structure, Tripple dribble explores how classical modes of filming a game can be progressively manipulated, obstructed and played with under the material and physical influence of the sculptures and players.
A choregraphy emerges between sculpture, body and sport materiality.
