2015 – Performance, drawing | Remote-controlled cars, markers
Race with Simon Zaborski

The line drawing by Pablo Picasso of Igor Stravinsky has long been used in drawing classes as the basis for ‘blind contour’ drawing and is featured in the famed book, Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. The exercise requires that you look at the drawing upside-down and recreate it in one single line without looking at your paper. We re-created this exercise except the paper was enormous and we used remote control cars with markers attached to them to draw the image. The tool, the distance and the speed hinders the drawing process, transforming this exercise into a performance that highlights new constraints.
